De financieel-economische journalistiek in Nederland ontkomt niet aan de wetten van de markt. Rond de eeuwwisseling tuimelden de uitgevers over elkaar heen met nieuwe initiatieven, vanuit de gedachte dat er wat te verdienen viel met economisch nieuws. Anno 2021 is van die dynamiek nog maar weinig over. Meer concurrentie en meer investeringen in financiële journalistiek is gewenst. Net als de democratie is ook het economisch verkeer gebaat bij goed geïnformeerde burgers en bedrijven.
